Ten ways to get more steps

Walking does not need to be an all-or-none exercise

Walking is a super easy exercise that has excellent health benefits. Walking can help with weight management, stress reduction, and more. The nice thing about walking is that it can be done in small amounts. We do not necessarily have to carve out 30–60 minutes to get results. We can achieve similar results by adding extra steps or a couple of minutes of walking in between our normal routines. This post will explore some ways to get more steps.

1. Parking further away

Some of us like to park close to the store to get in and out. We can add one minute of walking if we park further away. This little change only adds a few minutes to our store trip.

2. Walking around the entire store

When we are inside the store, we can increase our walking too. If time permits, we can browse around instead of going to the desired aisle and leaving immediately. Doing this can add about five to ten minutes of walking at a big department store.

3. Skipping the elevator

If our health permits, we can add ten steps and double/triple our calorie burn rate for every flight of stairs. Taking stairs also elevates our heart rate which…
