Make your workout like a SpaceX launch: count down your reps

Imagine being at a SpaceX launch.

Ten…

Nine…

Eight…

Seven…

Six…

Five…

Four…

Three…

Two…

One…

Blast off!

Did you feel excited? Did you sense the anticipation building in you? Let’s suppose you did even if you did not.

Now imagine the same by counting up to ten before the launch.

What was your sentiment? I’m supposing that it wasn’t as exciting or meaningful.

I believe the same goes for doing repetitions.

If we were to set a rep goal and count down, we might get more enjoyment and gratification in our workouts.

We feel good when we count up to our limit. We take a deep breath and sigh in relief that we did it.

Imagine how much more exciting that might feel if we counted down…

…and “blast off.”

This little mental trick may make our exercise routines just a little better.
